Direct dyes are one of the Cheapest class of dyes. Direct dyes lack fastness to various agency. The fastness properties can be improved by the applicaion of some after-treatment chemicals.

» What are Direct Dyes?
Direct Dyes are Sodium salt of Sulphonic acid, having good water solubility. These dyes are easy to apply and also are very cheaply available in market. These dyes are generally used for cheap good for local market.
» Fastness properties of Direct Dyes
Fastness properties of Direct dyes is poor. Wash fastness, Light fastness and crocking fasntess are not good in general except few dyes. Although poor fastness can be impoved by treating the substrate with some dye fixing agents which surely imporve the fasntess of dyed substrate. |
